Welcome back for those of you who got away for awhile. Hope everyone had a happy, healthy, fun, and relaxing summer.
Just back from NY myself trying to get back on top of the game as Barcelona awakes from its summer siesta.
The Scharf Report is back with upcoming events that you may want to check out.

Music

The Pedrera at Night, jazz on the roof is open Fridays and Saturdays until September 21st, so catch it while you still can. Tickets should be purchased in advance. 10 Euros includes una copa. 902 101 212 for tix.

See Cece and Juan - Open Arms - doing mostly creative covers of U2 to Marley and a lot in between including the prettiest Catalan song you've ever heard. They will be playing Saturdays at Sala B, Muntaner 244, and Tuesdays in the Harlem Jazz Club as usual. (Harlem is free get there at 10:30 to get a seat. We think Sala B is free, but I couldn't get through to them on the phone. I'll be going this Saturday to check it out.)

Sam Lardner performs Country Music after Line Dance Lessons at the Sutton Club on Tusset, between Diagonal and Travasera de Gracia. You've gotta see the Catalans pack in that dance floor. American Country Catalans, who knew? 10 Euros. 10:30ish. Thursday Sept, 12th and then the Wednesdays the rest of September.

Jamboree as always features Jazz Jam Sessions Monday nights, free entrance, and such great performers as Chris Higgins and the Kurt Rosenwinkel Trio Sept 19, 20, 21 for 9 Euros. 10:30ish.

Fiestas
Don't forget that Wednesday, Sept. 11th, is not only a day we'll all take a moment to remember last year, but it's also a Catalan Holiday. A great time to actually get out of the city to a nearby pueblito to see it celebrated in full force.

And keep the 20th - 24th open to enjoy the festivities of the Merce. The air show at the beach and the Castellers in San Jaume are always a good time.

Find out more about the Merce and get a free copy of the Vanguardia at La Vireina on the Ramblas, 99. Also, www.bcn.es/merce
